Training Opportunities

One of the fundamental goals of the NNCUG is to provide the capability to advance the computer related knowledge of our members.   Informational presentations are provided at each of the meetings, SIG groups are formed to meet specific training needs as expressed by the membership, self-study workbooks are available for checkout to our members, and formal classes are offered as requested.

The links and points of contact listed on this page are also provided for this purpose.  If you are aware of other opportunities that could contribute toward this goal please contact the webmaster so that they may be included on this page.

If you have a relatively urgent need for an answer to a question, check out the Terms and FAQ page, or you can submit it to the webmaster and then check back on the Terms and FAQ page for a posted response to your question.  If it is extremely urgent you can also ask for a return Email!

Please also remember that the group has a rather extensive compliment of computer training videos available for check out to our memebers.  For more information please contact the video librarian.

Jones International University, which specializes in selling online courses for profit, is the first Internet-only school to be accredited to grant college degrees. The school was accredited last week by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Jones International, which features courses designed by professors from schools like Columbia and Stanford and taught by part-time professors free-lancing for extra cash, offers
bachelor's and master's degrees in business communications. "In the U.S. there are 100 million people who need some kind of additional education, and there are only 15 million seats in universities," says founder Glenn Jones. The school started offering Internet courses in business communications four years ago. (Wall Street Journal 9 Mar 99)
