This information was announced yesterday morning from IBM; AOL states that this is a very dangerous virus, much worse than "Melissa", and that there is NO remedy for it at this time.
Some very sick individual has succeeded in using the
reformat function from Norton Utilities causing it to completely erase all
documents on the hard drive. It has been designed to work with Netscape
Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. It destroys Macintosh and IBM

Melissa Virus 3/30/99
If you get an E-mail from someone you know with the subject line "Important Message from," followed by a friends name, theres a good chance it the Melissa virus waiting in your in box. Under the attachments section you will find a file named list.doc. This is where the virus resides. This is a macro virus and it cant infect your computer unless you open the file. The best thing to do is to delete this E-mail.
Other tips for protecting your computer include:
Use a virus scanner.
Prevent automatic macros from running. In Microsoft Word, under the menu item "Tools", select "Options...", then select the "General" tab. Make certain the "Macro virus protection" box is checked.
